Two Polk county officers seriously injured after Patrol Car hit at 100 MPH during chase

Two Polk County police officers are hospitalised following a severe crash during a high-speed chase Saturday night, which left one patrol car in flames and both officers seriously injured.

Authorities said the cops were inside their patrol vehicle when a suspect slammed into them at over 100 mph. The impact caused one of the patrol cars to catch fire. Despite the severity of the collision, both cops survived.

One of the cops has been in surgery for more than ten hours, and the other has suffered head trauma, including memory loss and staple-related ailments. Both are likely to have long recoveries.

So yet, police have not officially identified the officers, simply referring to them by their initials, Officer C and Officer M.

The suspect in the chase is still on the run. Officers are continuing their search and encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

Polk County police and other law enforcement agencies are marching in support of the injured officers as the investigation proceeds.

“Please pray for the two cops and their families. “Praying for a speedy recovery and healing,” the Polk County Police Department posted on Facebook.
