According to the police, a woman who was 35 years old passed away as a result of an accident that occurred early on Sunday morning.

Around 8:30 on Sunday morning, officers from the Rochester Police Department responded to a collision that had occurred at the junction of Hudson Avenue and Avenue D.

The Rochester Fire Department had already arrived at the location in the vicinity to respond to a need for assistance. The fire truck was parked and empty, facing northbound on Hudson Avenue, and its emergency lights were turned on.

The fire truck was struck by a black 2002 Volvo that was heading northbound on Hudson Avenue at the intersection with Avenue D. The Volvo crossed the red light and collided with the back of the fire truck.

The woman who was driving the Volvo, who was 35 years old, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead immediately after arrival.

The passenger, a guy who is 32 years old, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he is currently currently receiving treatment for injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening.

An investigation is now being conducted. It is now unknown what caused the vehicle to run the red light and collide with the rear of the fire truck, according to the police in charge of the investigation.
