In light of the fact that adolescents are navigating high school in the aftermath of the Eaton Fire, a young lady from Pasadena planned a free event to assist young women in getting ready for prom and graduation.
“Seeing my community go through so much, I really was inspired to help out,” 16-year-old Lucia Flores-Rojas stated. “At first, I had decided to make this for the Altadena girls to restore some normalcy and have this element of excitement for their high school event, prom.”
All of the neighborhoods in Altadena, Pasadena, and Sierra Madre were completely destroyed by the Eaton Fire, which resulted in the relocation of thousands of people, including Flores-Rojas.
Following the destruction of 9,418 buildings, it elevated to the position of the second-most devastating fire in the history of California.
Flores-Rojas collaborated with the Princess Project and the STARS program to set up a pop-up shop inside the Montrose Church in Pasadena.

This was during the time that her communities were still in the process of rebuilding and recovering from the disaster.
After scheduling an appointment, students had the opportunity to select from a variety of dresses, accessories, and makeup options specifically designed for prom and graduation.

“It means a lot to just know that I can help out my community in some way,” Flores-Rojas said. “Seeing everything that happened just affected me emotionally and so I just want to do the best I can to help my peers and my loved ones.”
